With 29 years in the Falkland Islands, Paul is the Chief Executive Officer and Trustee of SAERI. As part of the Task and Finish Group when part of The Falkland Islands Government Fisheries Department, Paul successfully conceptualised, developed and implemented the response to the need for science based in and out of the Islands with the Group - and this resulted in SAERI, established as an independent Charity in 2017. At the same time SAERI established SAERI (Falklands) Ltd (SFL) as wholly owned subsidiary. Paul is a Director and Chair of SFL which operates across the South Atlantic and Caribbean.

MARK NEVES
Mark is a solicitor based in the Falkland Islands and was a founding Director of SFL. He is owner of Falklands Legal in Stanley. Mark brings grounded external eyes to the Boardroom table, and with his background is able to advise SFL independently of SAERI and work with the SAERI Chairman to achieve the best outcomes for both organisations.

PETER JUDGE
Peter was Attorney General for the Overseas Territories of the Falkland Islands and South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands from 2014 -2017. Peter qualified as a lawyer over 20 years ago and began his career as corporate/ M&A lawyer before taking his first Board level appointment in the public sector in 2002. Peter has held a number of senior leadership roles – executive and non-executive - in the Public, Higher Education and Third sectors since then.
Peter holds a Bachelor’s degree and postgraduate qualifications in English Law and a Master’s Degree in International and European Law. He is a accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator and Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts.

ANDREW ALMOND-BELL
Andrew was Director of Emergency Services & Island Security Falkland Islands Government from 2015 – 2017. Andrew is an accomplished chartered manager with 39+ years of experience as a disaster & emergency, operational, health & safety Specialist for industry-leading organisations and Governments. Maintaining highest quality standards to avoid time and cost expenditures. Andrew has held a number of senior leadership roles – executive and non-executive - in the Private, Public and Higher Education sectors. He possesses International Experience across a range of Continents embracing Cultural Diversity and is a Skilled Negotiator to Governmental & Non-Governmental Organisations.

Paul has led numerous research programmes and managed and mentored scientists and students alike.
ARLENE OLMEDO BOWERS
Company Secretary
Arlene Olmedo Bowers is the Finance and Office Manager at SAERI and SFL, where she also serves as the Company Secretary for SFL. With over 20 years of experience in finance, her career began as an Assistant Auditor at the St Helena Government, followed by a role as Accountant at the Falkland Islands Company. In addition to her financial expertise, Arlene manages HR and administration duties for the organisation.
Originally from St Helena Island, Arlene has called the Falkland Islands home since 2000. She appreciates the quiet island life and enjoys having the unique wildlife of the Falklands right on her doorstep.
Paul’s areas of resarch include deep-sea and coastal marine ecology, oceanography, fisheries ecology and stock assessment, and using remote sensing technology such as imaging, side-scan, multibeam, and ADCP data acquisition and analysis. As a consultant for SFL, Paul has provided services to public and private institutions locally and internationally, supporting their environmental needs and goals, spanning environmental baselines, monitoring, EIAs, and sustainability assessments using novel GIS and database tools.
NICKY SPENCER
Environmental Consultant
Specialising in Environmental Impact Assessments and QA of Environmental Statements, Nicky also has developed standard methodologies and best practice guidelines for the use in the Falkland Islands O&G industry and other sector development within the islands.
Neil is a marine ecologist, habitat mapper and geospatial scientist. As a chartered biologist, he spent sixteen years in the UK civil service (JNCC) leading various habitat mapping projects, managing an offshore marine protected area survey programme and leading a small seabed evidence gathering team; in 2019, he began his freelance career. Specialised in working on remote islands and small island developing states, Neil has worked on/with Governments from Tristan da Cunha, Turks & Caicos, St Helena, the Falkland Islands and South Georgia. He has extensive knowledge of Earth Observation and remote sensing technologies including geospatial analysis, advanced GIS and drone habitat and topographic mapping, and enjoys problem solving with technology.
NAOMI CORDEIRO
Environmental Consultant
Naomi is an Environmental Advisor with 15 years’ experience in the private and public sector with a strong focus on Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Management Plans, public consultation, biosecurity, environmentally responsible operations and government liaison. Over the past 10 years, Naomi has liaised closely with the Falklands government on emerging environmental legislation in the Falkland Islands and developed methods, studies and surveys to increase understanding of the environment. More recently, Naomi has moved into the conservation detection dog world starting South Atlantic Detection Dogs in 2019. She helped deliver the first biosecurity detection dog programme for the Government of South Georgia and continues to work and train dogs which detect invasive species.
